Our children’s upbringing, their health, the unsatisfied wish to spend more time with them, the uncertainty for their future and the environment that will be left to them.
Personal and family growth, as vocation, conforms to a model, and the sensation of being dragged socially in the opposite direction…
Bagara came about in this framework of existential turmoil.
A project full of hope that, at the same time, has allowed us, two childhood friends, the chance to work together.
Begara means to make a contribution to changing this world into a more natural one. Bagara would like to walk with you. Shall we walk together?
In Bagara we design, make and sell organic clothing in Elorrio, Bizkaia.
We make clothing from organic fabrics. Long-lasting, of the highest quality and comfortable all in one.
EcoCool: the fact that we make clothing that is healthy for our skin and for the environment is by no means at odds with its avant-garde trend.
Clothing designed and made with loving care. In Bagara we take care of the finest detail.
As the true luxury is to be found in what we wear, choose BAGARA.
Every human activity leaves its mark on the planet, and clothing is no exception. Our society produces, consumes and throws away tons of items of clothing daily. We are all more or less aware of this, but unfortunately it goes unnoticed.
Natural is not synonymous with ecological or sustainable. Traditional cotton is one of the vegetal fibres most in demand in international markets. Their plantations are spread throughout the world, but the way it is cultivated and processed causes serious harm to the environment. According to statistics from the last few years, 10% of worldwide pesticides and 25% of all insecticides are used in the plantation and treatment processes of this raw material. The pesticides used to sulphate the plants have important noxious effects on the earth, often leaving it sterile.
Fashion generates 20% of toxins dumped into the environment and 10% of all global CO2 emissions.
- 90% of textile waste is recyclable.
- Even so, 85% of textile waste goes straight to rubbish tips.
The materials used by BAGARA, as well as being natural, are organic.
The ecological or organic materials are produced according to a number of natural cultivation rules: pesticides, agrochemicals and artificial fertilizers are not used, insects are controlled by natural repellents and non-transgenic seeds are used.
As a consequence, the bio-diversity of the land used for cultivation is respected, fostering its fertility for future crops. Furthermore, the health of the workers and of those using these products is protected.
We all know the effect of transpiration and thermal isolation of the garments which are line-produced, wool or cotton, the hygienic and anti-bacterial properties of hemp and linen, their smoothness and freshness, also natural and pleasant to the touch. Free of chemical agents and toxic finishes, they are hypo-allergenic.
Ideal fabrics for all skin types. Especially for those with atopic dermatitis or eczema or similar.
At the end of their shelf-life, natural fibres are 100% biodegradable.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world-leading standard in the processing, production, packaging, labeling and selling of textiles made with a minimum 70% certified organic fibres. The standard includes ecological and social criteria, of which the following must be highlighted:
- Critical materials like toxic heavy metals, formaldehyde, aromatic solvents, functional nano-particles, genetically modified organisms and their enzymes are prohibited.
- Azote colourings that release amino-carcinogen compounds are prohibited.
- The packaging material must not contain PVC.
- No child labour is allowed.
- No discrimination should exist.
BAGARA works with GOTS certified materials.
